 Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch® 9900 sērijas modulārie LAN šasijas tipa komutatori ir gan augstas kapacitātes, gan augstas veiktspējas. Tie paredzēti lielu uzņēmumu, pakalpojumu sniedzēju un datu centru vajadzībām. Kā jau visos Alcatel-Lucent produktos,arī šīs sērijas komutatoros darbojas Alcatel- Lucent Operating System (AOS) operētājsistēma. Tā nodrošina Software-Defined Networking (SDN) funkciju, kas piedāvā nepārtrauktu tīkla darbību. AOS ir augstas veiktspējas un, tā sauktā, multi Terabit modulārā platforma. Šīs sērijas komutatori piedāvā 25G/40G/50G/100G interfeisus.
 Papildus tie spēj nodrošināt arī liela patēriņa PoE tīklus līdz pat 10080 W kopējās jaudas. Gigabit PoE tīkla karte atbalsta 8 savienojuma portus ar HPoE (75W), un 40 savienojuma portus ar 802.3at standarta PoE (30 W). Visi PoE savienojuma porti atbilst IEEE 802.3af/at standartam.
 Šajā tehnoloģiju platformā ir iebūvēti standarta IEEE protokoli un nozīmīgas inovācijas, kā Shortest Path Bridging (802.1aq/SPB-M), Multiple VLAN Registration Protocol (MVRP), dynamic Virtual Network Profiles (vNP), 802.3ad/802.1AX (LACP) un Auto-Fabric priekš automātiskās protokolu un tīkla topoloģijas pārskatīšanas.
